There is also a surface crack near the bolt. The finish is pretty worn off and there is rust along the woodline near the rear sight to the front sight.

It seems to be all matching except the magazine housing, although the stock serial number is pretty worn. I am familiar with the ammunition woes, and am aware of the later Engineer Carbines but am not sure how this stacks up in relation to rarity/value. I'm guessing it was made pretty early on because of the A block serial, but I'm not 100% familiar with all of the intricacies involved with these rifles.
